Kargil

Kargil is located in-between the alpine valleys of Kashmir and the fertile reaches of the Indus valley. Geographically it is related to the Ladakh, but culturally it’s more related to Baltistan and the people here are mostly Shiite Muslim rether than Buddhist. There are more Mosques in Kargil. For visitors Kargil is mainly a transit point between Leh and Srinagar or Zanskar and provides an interesting contrast to all three. Kargil is famous for its apricots and trees groan with fruit every August. For good views of the town and the roaring Suru river, you’ll have to walk uphill to Goma (Upper) Kargil. Its quite a tensed area because it is close to the Line of Control (LOC) between India and Pakistan. If there are problems foreigners will not be allowed past the many army check-posts.

Research about Stem Cells

In today’s world many researches are going on. One such research is about the stem cells. Stem cells are found in most of the multi-cellular organisms. They have the ability to renew themselves through cell division and differentiating themselves into different specialized types of cells. Stem cells have two properties, first is self-renewal which is the ability to go through numerous cycles of cell division while maintaining an undifferentiated state and second is potency which is the capacity to differentiate into specialized cell types and to be able to give rise to any mature cell types.
The two types of stem cells are Adult and Embryonic stem cells. The sources of stem cells for Adult type are umbilical cord blood, bone marrow, teeth and menstrual blood and the sources of Embryonic stem cells are fetal tissue and human embryos. Cord blood banking is a facility by which we can store the umbilical cord blood for future use. They can be used for whole lifetime of that newborn. Stem cells are used to repair the tissues and cells that are damaged by diseases and injuries.
Stem cells also treats diseases. They are used for treating more than 70 diseases including different types of anemia’s, deficiencies of immune system, acute and chronic leukemia, inherited metabolic disorders like hunter’s syndrome, krabbe disease, wolman disease and many more diseases.
Everyone should know and understand the benefits and uses of stem cell. Make sure you visit Stem Cell Research News.net for further information about the stem cells.

Khardung La and Khalsar

Khardung La

The road to Nubra valley goes over the highest motorable pass in the world at Khardung La. The pass is occupied by a grubby military camp and stacks of oil drums, but none of this detracts from gawking at the distant vistas and the thrill of being perhaps as high as you can go on solid ground.

Khalsar

The Nubra Valley really starts at the village of Khalsar, where there are several teahouses, a strip of doubtful accommodation and a vast army fuel dump. The road then forks just before the village of Lughzun. The road at left takes us to Diskit and Hunder following the Shyok River. The road at the right will lead to Panamik along the river Nubra.
