This small town is located at a distance of about 35 kms from thiruvannamalai. There are two forts, Rajagiri and krishnagiri, situated in this town. These forts are in a ruined state. They were built on the top of the hills in the 16th century by the kings of vijayanagar. Some parts of these forts were built in the 13th century. But this fort has been occupied by various kings at different time periods. Adil Shah of Bijapur got control over this fort in 1677 and then it was occupied by the French and the British. Now it is open for the public. However, there is a small entrance fee for entering this fort.

The government museum is located at egmore. It is spread across a group of buildings known as the pantheon complex. Fort St. George, Chennai

Fort St. George was built by the British in 1653 when they entered India for trade through the British East India Company. Over the centuries, this building has seen lot of undergone lot of changes and wears a entirely different look now. This place is now being used as the house for the Secretariat and the Legislative assembly. The Indian flag waves from the top of a tall pole in the front of the building. It is said that the flag pole is made from the mast of a wrecked ship of 17th century.
