Monday, November 3rd, 2008Hampi is a village located in karnataka. It was the capital of the largest hindu empire, Vijayanagar. It was founded in 1336. It was the place of commerce during the vijayanagar empire. Even now commerce is buzzing activity at hampi.

KSRTC buses are available from goa and bangalore to hampi.But Hospet is the best place to get a bus to hampi.
Touring Spots ::
1) Vittala Temple :: This temple is dedicated to the Lord Vishnu. It is at a distance of 2 km from hampi bazaar.It was built in the 16th century.
2) Virupaksha Temple :: This temple was built in 1442 and is one of the oldest buildings at hampi. The hampi bazaar is situated near this temple. All the activities in the bazaar is based on the temple.
3) Royal Centre :: The royal centre is a modern place which is entirely different from the hampi bazaar.The major attractions here are Lotus Mahal and the Elephant stables.
4) Archaeological Museum :: This is another interesting place at hampi. This museum has a good collection of sculptures of vijayanagar empire.
