Trivandrum
Saturday, November 8th, 2008Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) is the capital city of the state kerala and is located in the deep south of India. It is the largest and busiest city in kerala. The royal family of Travancore live in this city. According to history, trade has been a more prominent activity in this city from 1000 B. C. This city experiences heavy rainfall from june. Languages spoken are Malayalam,English,Tamil and Hindi.

Road :: Trivandrum is well connected by road all the major cities and local bus services are good.
Railway :: Trivandrum railway station has trains to all the states in the country. India’s longest railway route Trivandrum-Guwahati which covers many major small and big cities starts from here.
Airport :: Trivandrum has an international airport and also has regular flights to bangalore,mumbai,chennai,delhi,colombo,maldives,etc.
1) Padmanabhaswamy Temple :: This temple was built in 18th century and covers very large area. The main deity here is the Padmanabhaswamy(Lord Vishnu). Male should wear dhothi inside this temple and female should wear saree. The members of the Travancore Royal family visit this temple everyday.
2) CVN Kalari Sangham :: This is one of the most interesting places in trivandrum. Kalari is an ancient martial art of kerala and it is being taught here .This place is located close to the Padmanabhaswamy temple.
3) Zoo :: Trivandrum zoo is quite different from rest of the zoos in India. This zoo not only houses the animal but also some museums and galleries. This zoo is very peaceful and lush green. This is one of the best maintained zoo in India. Napier Museum, Natural History Museum and Chitra Art Gallery are present within the zoo.

4) Puthe Maliga Palace Museum :: This museum is present in the palace of the Travancore Maharajas. Most of the exhibits represent trade.
