Kovalam is like a mini goa in kerala. Kovalam is known for its beaches. Some of the beaches present in an around kovalam are Lighthouse beach, hawah beach and samudra beach. The first two beaches are generally less crowded and there is not much to discuss about them. Samudra beach is about 4 kms from kovalam. This is a very peaceful beach  and has many resorts. But the main disadvantage of this beach is the presence of fishing villages near it. This keeps the tourists from enjoying the calmness of this beautiful beach. Certain things have to be kept in mind before going to any of these beaches. Theft occurs very often in these beaches, so we need to takecare of the things we carry. Swimming is generally not advisable in these beaches as the sea is pretty rough and it carries away the swimmers. Most part of these beaches are dark at night as they do not have proper light.
