Cochin

Cochin also known as Kochi is one of the major cities in kerala. It is a coastal city and has a big harbour. This city also is much less crowded and less polluted than the others cities. The culture is a mixed blend of Indian, protuguese and the british.

Transport ::

Cochin is well connected by road all the major cities in kerala and other states also. KSRTC buses operate throughout the state.

Although cochin is a city, ernakulam is the mainland. Two railway stations are present at ernakulam with trains available to all over India.

Ernakulam airport has daily flights to delhi,chennai,mumbai,hyderabad and bangalore.

St.Francis Church

St.Francis Church

1)Fort Cochin is a major tourist attractio at cochin. St.Francis church is present here. It was built in 1503 by portuguese. The Indo-Portuguese museum is present at the Bishop’s house.

2) Mattancherry Palace was built by portuguese in the year 1555 and was gifted to the then king of cochin, Veera Kerala Varma. Photography is prohibited inside this palace.

3) PARDESI Synagogue ::

It was built in 1568 and was destroyed in 1662 by portuguese. It was then rebuilt in the year 1664. Chinese architecture is seen within this place. The nearby Jew town was used for trading purpose.
