Places of Interests around Kochi
Wednesday, November 19th, 2008There are very few places of interest around kochi, but they are worth a visit.
1) The first place is the Hill Palace Museum located at tripunithura which is situated at about 10 kms south of ernakulam. This palace had been th residence of the royal family of Kochi. After their departure, this palace is used as a museum. This palace has 49 buildings. Now the museum exhibits the articles used by the royal family which includes sculptures,paintings, coins and many other things. Buses are available from kochi throughout the day.
2) There is a dusty synagogue located at parur which is at a distance of 35 kms from kochi. This was built in the 15th century. Some other places of interest at parur are a Syrian church, a temple of goddess mookambika and a Krishna temple.
3) The oldest synagogue of Kerala is located at chennamangalam which is at about 4 kms from parur. Although it is not in a good condition, it attracts some tourists. There is a Jesuit college and church in chennamangalam which were built in the 15th century. There is also a mosque located near the periyar river, which was built in the 16th century.
