The government museum is located at egmore. It is spread across a group of buildings known as the pantheon complex. The main building  houses the archaeological section which consists of collections from many famous dynasties like chera, chola, pandiya,vijayanagar, hoysala and chalukya. The sculptures and temple art from these dynasties are still preserved well in this museum. The next section is the natural history and zoology. This section has exhibits of skeletons of various animals and stuffed birds.  This is a beautiful place to visit and it takes around 3 to 4 hrs for a complete view.

Fort St. George, Chennai

Fort St. George was built by the British in 1653 when they entered India for trade through the British East India Company. Over the centuries, this building has seen lot of undergone lot of changes and wears a entirely different look now. This place is now being used as the house for the Secretariat and the Legislative assembly. The Indian flag waves from the top of a tall pole in the front of the building. It is said that the flag pole is made from the mast of a wrecked ship of 17th century.

The Fort museum is attached to this building. This museum has a collection of memorabilia from the various trading companies that came to India and also from the Kings of the India and the muslim rulers who came to India. There is gallery which exhibits the ancient madras contingency during the British rule.

5) Yoga Festival :: This festival is celebrated at podicherry with all the ashrams and yoga schools conducting workshops and classes.
6) Pongal :: This festival is celebrated in the honor of the Sun God. It is celebrated in the month of january. The Cows are also honored during this festival.
7) Diwali(Deepavali) :: This festival is known as the festival of lights. It is celebrated as a sign of Lord Krishna killing the evil demon Narakasura.
