Hyderabad & Secunderabad

Hyderabad and Secunderabad which is otherwise known as City of Pearls was once the capital of the Great Vijayanagar Empire. Today, Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is also one of the major software industry flourishing city in India, so it’s also known as ‘Cyberabad’ and generates jobs and wealth. As an important Islamic Cultural center, Hyderabad is southern counterpart of Delhi, Agra and Fethepur Sikri and it has a considerable Muslim Population.
In the early 19th century the British established a military housing for soldiers at Secunderabad, named after the Nizam of the time, Sikander Jah. When Independence came in 1947, the then Nizam of Hyderabad, Osman Ali Khan, considered amalgamation with Pakistan, but tensions between Hindus and Muslims increased. Military intervention saw Hyderabad join the Indian Union.
