The Pin Valley National Park is situated south of Dhankar. It is famous for the wildlife it preserves. It is known as the ‘land of ibex and snow leopards.  The Ki gompa is the largest gompa in Spiti. It stands majestic at a height of about 4116m. The Ki gompa was built the Ringchen Zangpo, a great Tibetian translator in the 16th century. This gompa plays a huge role  in history. It was invaded three times in the 19th century by the Ladakhis, Sikhs and Dogras. An earthquake in 1975 nearly destroyed the gompa. The ancient “Thangkas” survived all these assaults. Photography is prohibited inside the gompa as it would affect them.
